Mariana Di Girólamo Arteaga (* 22 October 1990 in Santiago de Chile) is a Chilean actress known for her performances in the mega soap operas Pituca sin lucas and Perdona nuestros pecados. As a film actress, she caught the eye at the 2019 Venice Film Festival with the lead role in director Pablo Larraín's film Ema, receiving rave reviews for her performance.


Personal life

Mariana Di Girólamo was born the daughter of visual artists Paolo Di Girólamo and Lucía Arteaga. She is the niece of the Chilean actress Claudia di Girólamo and granddaughter of the playwright Claudio di Girólamo and began training in the field of obstetrics, which she did not complete. She graduated in 2014 from the School of Theatre at Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile.

From 2014 to 2015 she appeared in the television series Pituca sin lucas on the channel Mega as María Belén Risopatrón and in 2016 in Pobre gallo as Andrea González. In the 2015/16 season, she also appeared on stage at the Centro Cultural Gabriela Mistral (GAM) alongside her aunt Claudia di Girólamo as Prospero in Shakespeare's Tempest as Miranda. She made her feature film debut in 2016 in the political drama Aquí no ha pasado nada (Much Ado about Nothing) by Alejandro Fernández Almendras, which premiered at the 2016 Sundance Film Festival and screened at the 2016 Berlinale in the Panorama section.

For her portrayal of María Elsa Quiroga in the mega-series Perdona nuestros pecados, she was awarded the Copihue de Oro of the Chilean daily La Cuarta for Best Actress in 2017 and was nominated for this category in 2018.

In 2019, she played the role of Rosario Correa again in the Canal 13 series Río Oscuro alongside her aunt Claudia di Girólamo. In the film drama Ema by Pablo Larraín, which premiered at the 76th Venice Film Festival in competition for the Golden Lion, she portrayed the title role of the young dancer Ema alongside Gael García Bernal as Gastón.

After completing filming for the series Los Prisioneros and La Jauría in Chile, she has been living in Madrid with her partner, DJ Sebastián Román, since June 2021.
